At this point the skill I’m most trying to master is writing. I’m finding the real skill in it is not so much the writing but in the necessity of figuring out to write. The monkey’s paw version would give me excellent writing skills but leave me with no way to think of things worth writing about. The real skill in writing comes down to thinking of ideas that are worth writing down. Finding ideas for stories that are intersting and worth writing.
