Umbrella Thief

This hasn't happened to me but I'm always afraid it will

Strong wind blows 
    under purple umbrella
breaking the grip of the 
    one hoping to keep dry

Away it flies then lands
    skidding into the street
then reduced to twisted
    wire and ripped nylon

Lost beneath the wheels
    of a white delivery van
