It’s around Noon on Sunday. I’ve been reading for probably an hour. My coffee is gone and the cat is finally off of my lap. Time to get things started. I take the empty coffee mug to the kitchen and get to work cleaning up from breakfast.
First is the milk frother. The glass is thin and I want it out of the sink in case I drop something like the frying pan. Some soap, a scrub with the sponge and it is done. Next is the moka pot. It needs to be disassembled first. I twist the top off, leveraging it on my counter. I pull the backet out and the gasket comes with it. We’re supposed to compost now so I spoon the coffee grounds into an old bottle to take outside later. I think about the time I saw the sanitation guy just through the food scraps in with the regular garbage. It’s such a charade but I do it anyway. The moka pot is clean after a quick rinse. I soap up and wash the plate and cups. The frying pan goes last. There is still some egg stuck on and it is such a pain to clean off. No matter what I try a little bit always sticks on there. I use the scrapper and get it all off. No, I missed a spot. I scrap again, more thorough this time. Then soap and sponge it off. There finally clean.
With all the dishes drying I go to brush my teeth. I check the cat box first and she peed again. I clean that up first then get to brushing. I feel fresh after getting that coffee after taste out of there.
Then I go make the bed. Get dressed in day clothes and stare out my window. I need to get out for a little bit. But where should I go?
