Things that are delicate are also things that need protection. I’m reading the Wisdom of the Sands and in its later half the focus is looking at things as parts of systems. This has me thinking of the meaning of words in terms of their larger meaning. That is to say in all the context surrounding them. When I think of something delicate I think of something that weak but worth keeping. Therefore, it needs protection.
Thinking about this more I think the fragility imparts a special beauty to those delicate things. By their nature they are not guaranteed to stay whole for long and must be appreciated while they exist.
