Write Club Prompt #5
Colors
We did this thing in college where they matched everyone’s personality to a color then put us in groups and asked us to solve some problems. I got the color green. Basically introverted and nerdy. Lately I’ve been wondering about the validity of this and things like Myers-Briggs. Does it really say anything deep that I answered some multiple choice questions the same way as these other people? Are we not more functions of our time and place than an immutable set of personality traits?
What got me thinking about this was a video by Ruri Ohama where she said friends describe her personality as changing depending on the language that she is speaking. Is my introversion due more to the fact that my native language is English? If I grew up speaking Italian as my grandmother dreamed would I be more extroverted? Am I a great stand up comedian in Swedish? Maybe one day I will get to find out. Today I am still the color green.
