The blank page marks the beginning of a journey. It could lead anywhere. Perhaps there is a destination in mind and perhaps there is nothing but the journey. To see where things go. These prompts feel like training to me. Training my mind to think in writing and getting my ideas out onto the page. The struggle is to dig down and find the truth buried beneath so many layers of wrongness. A certain fear is understandable. The truth can reveal many things, not all of them flattering.
Now is not the time for fear. The only thing to really fear is if another year goes by and nothing is accomplished. That’s why I write. That’s why the blank page is appealing. It is the only hope to leave something genuine behind and to find that which truly has meaning.
